Starship IFT-5

On October 13, 2024, SpaceX launched Starship Flight Test 5 from Starbase using Booster 12 and Ship 30, marking a historic milestone in reusability. The Super Heavy booster successfully reversed course after staging and became the first booster ever to be caught by the “Mechazilla” tower arms, while the upper stage continued on a suborbital path before performing a controlled splashdown in the Indian Ocean. Unlike earlier flights, all engines performed nominally, and both stages executed their objectives, making this the most successful Starship test yet and a major step toward fully reusable orbital rockets.
